Skye Avionics is an Approved Maintenance Organization and Approved Organization for the Manufacture and Certification of Aeronautical Products, providing CNC machining, 3d printing, and avionics services for helicopter and fixed wing operators of all sizes. We have a very dynamic operation, working on everything from business jets and S92โ€™s, to float planes and R44s. All these aircraft come with unique requirements and work environments. Sometimes you start your day in a nicely heated hanger and then finish on a floatplane dock in the rain. Our jobs range from high pressure troubleshooting to full re-wires, to basic com replacements. As a a small, personable, fast paced company, there are opportunities for career growth in many directions. We are seeking licensed AME-E and Avionics Apprentices for multiple roles.

The reporting point for this job is Campbell River, BC. an outdoor recreation hub. Fast access to beautiful hiking, 2 ski resorts, mountain biking, lakes, rivers, and ocean. As an added bonus the housing market is much more affordable than most major centers in western Canada. Company accommodation is available to aid in relocation.

The successful candidate will have completed an accredited course at a Transport Canada ATO, be legally entitled to work in Canada, able to communicate effectively, troubleshoot avionics systems, perform installations, be a team player, flexible and reliable.

Travelling will be required to remote locations up and down Vancouver Island, and elsewhere in Western Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and maintain avionics equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations
  • Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot and repair electrical components.
  • Operating and maintaining test equipment such as Viavi AVX-10, and Pitot-Static Test Set
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on avionics systems.
  • RVSM Inspections
  • Biennial APARS Inspections
  • ELT Inspections
  • Other system inspections as requested by our customers
  • Harness Prefabrication
  • Document all work performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure proper integration of avionics systems.

Qualifications

  • MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have path to earning, or currently hold a Transport Canada AME-E license
  • Proven experience as an Avionics Technician or similar role is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of aircraft standard practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD and Fusion an asset
  • Must be able to pass all required background checks and certifications related to aviation safety standards.

Compensation

  • Apprentice $24-28 per hour
  • Licensed AME-E $32-45 per hour
